One of the aims of San Damiano Spirituality Centre is to boldly proclaim Franciscan Spirituality in our local context.
As the Franciscan friars minister to a growing number of Catholics, the San Damiano Spirituality Centre hopes to be a platform for not just the OFMs but also the Order of Secular Franciscans (OFS) to collaborate with the lay faithful in spreading the Franciscan way of life.
In order to achieve this, the Centre offers Franciscan Formation in the following ways:
‘Brother Francis: The Barefoot Saint’
‘Brother Francis: The Barefoot Saint’
One of the key programmes of the Centre is a 5-week audio theatre programme titled ‘Brother Francis: The Barefoot Saint.’ Produced by the Augustine Institute, this programme introduces the person of St Francis of Assisi with the unique assistance of our imaginations.
On top of the theatre experience, the centre also provides a discussion arena and supplementary insights to the life of St Francis. These reflections help us to appreciate not just the man himself, but also think about God’s call for each one us to rebuild His Church.

‘God’s Extravagant Love’ (GEL)
‘God’s Extravagant Love’ (GEL)
What is Franciscan Spirituality? Is there anything unique about the worldview of Franciscans? What is this hidden treasure that has inspired our Pope to take on the name ‘Francis’?
If you have ever wondered about these, the San Damiano Spirituality Centre offers an introductory course on Franciscan Spirituality called, ‘God’s Extravagant Love’ (GEL). The GEL programme is adaptable to fit a variety of expressions. Whether it is run over three weekends, a weekend retreat or even among Small Christian Community (SCC) groups, the GEL programme aims to bring participants through an exploration of Franciscan Spirituality and to wonder at God’s Extravagant Love.

Stigmata Series
Unique to our centre, the “Stigmata Series” is a series of talk that deal with navigating the interior life of a Christian disciple. These talks seek to help pilgrims understand and deepen their awareness of the interior journey that each of us are called to make towards God. The talks are held usually on the third Monday of the month in the evenings at 8pm. Inspired by the desire of St Francis for the total union with God, the Stigmata series will feature different topics each time delivered by eloquent speakers of our Franciscan family. Check out our Events Calendar for details of the next Stigmata Series.
Franciscan Talks and Retreats
Franciscan Talks and Retreats
Throughout the year, the Centre endeavours to offer various talks and preached retreats focused on celebrating the Franciscan spirit of preaching the Gospel of Christ through simple living. These range from sessions on ‘Meditative Prayer before the Crucifix of Christ’, and ‘Restoring One’s Dignity through the Father’s Love’ to ‘Stigmata: Conformity or Deformity’.
These sessions are subject to the availability of our team of Franciscan Formators who themselves have differing responsibilities within the Church.
